Music Listening

Short post today.  Just want to share a link, really.  I like to hear new music all the time.  That can be an expensive habit so I’ve found some places online that can satisfy my cravings for free.  One great spot I’ve found is the NPR First Listen Website.  You can stream whole entire albums of artists’ new releases for a week or two before the albums are even released.  All different genres.  It’s a great way to hear new stuff, see if you like something, and if you do, you might be more inclined to purchase the CD.  I recently listened to Neil Young’s latest as well as the new Bad Plus album.  Both are excellent.  Today I checked out First Listen with Joe Lovano’s “Bird Songs” – some interesting takes on some Charlie Parker tunes – sped up, slowed down, jumbled around.  Pretty good.  Great band Joe’s got!  Definitely book mark this site – it’s worth your while to check back every now and again to see what the site is featuring.
