That may have been his last recording.
Peter Campbell.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5219725127105299676.post-26596281475456646362013-06-04T14:46:53.942-04:002013-06-04T14:46:53.942-04:00Actually, Rudresh misinformed you about Paul's...Actually, Rudresh misinformed you about Paul's health. he has serious health problems. He is alive but probably suffering from quite advance Altheimer's so will never play again. I'm reliably informed that he has to have a helper to get him out of the house and to the occasional jazz performance.
Peter Campbell.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5219725127105299676.post-84395805786170128952013-06-04T10:07:56.112-04:002013-06-04T10:07:56.112-04:00You may already know this but you can also find Pa...You may already know this but you can also find Paul Serrano on the Bunky Green, Lone Hill CD, "Playin' For Keeps". The tracks were recorded in Chicago between 1960 and 1966. Paul was also part of a band comprising the cream of American and Cuban jazz musicians that played at least one gig at Birdland in New York. The band was called the Driguez - Kaicongo Band. The other two trumpeters were "Chocolate" Almenteros and Agustin Caraballoso. Cecil Payne and Charles Lloyd were also in the band. How long they were extant, I have no idea. Data on the band is non-existant except what I have stuck out there. Best,
Peter Campbell (desertrunna@gmail.com)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
